In Riley's world, That means watermelon!
He likes to eat marshmelons and I like to laugh at that.

relaxing!!!
I had a stomach virus on Saturday so we were house bound ALL day! It was actually nice to have a relaxing weekend with nothing to do. There were lots of naps and I watched 27 dresses.
Today I managed to get pool side with the commander and riley.
Here's the cool kid in the "tub tub"

Randomness: I ate my first fresh tomato today and it was uber good! There's nothing better than a fresh tomato. FULL BLOWN SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE! Which means we'll be calling the HOGS in no time now.
Hooray for the short week!

Girls Night

(Julia G, Becca R, me, Karen S)
Becca, Karen and I loaded up and went to a get together at Julia's house. It was entertaining. I'll spare you the wild and crazy details of the whole thing.
The fish was less than amused with all the chaos. I thought he had "gone to a better place" on more than one occasion, but Jules tapped on the tank and he would quit floating upside down or laying horizontal on the rocks. I'm not sure he's going to make it though today though.
(sorry jules..love the tank though)

Dear Aunt Tracy,
Thank you for my new fun spot. I laughed as my mom and dad struggled to put it together. I helped by tearing off some attachment tabs. My mom took my markers away because I marked on the kitchen floor, but it was so much fun. I can't wait to show you how good my work is at your house.

IT'S A ........
BABY!
Sorry, but I opted out of an ultrasound today. He/she has the heart rate of a girl, but then again so did Riley most of the time.

Fair Field Bay
Friday night T.W and I met up with Solar, Solar's niece W, Brewmaster and his gang for US pizza. That's always a guarenteed good time!
Saturday, we headed to Fairfield Bay to meet up with mom, dad, tracy, dale, scott, and michael for fun on the lake. This is my idea of being "outdoorsy" with Tracy.

This isn't so bad either with dad and Riley

It's all about sitting back and exploring nature. (Even if it is in circles...notice who is in charge of the lever

Then we explored more of the outdoors from the big boats.

Ross jumped from the top and went down the slide. (I forgot my camera for the most entertaining part of the boat ride) Dad and Tracy also went down the slide. I just enjoyed nature from the boat.(fuddy duddy)

Then there was tubing. First there were three (Scott, the commander, and Michael)

You holding tight, commander? It's about to get nasty.

Well, first there was surfing as the commander studies his moves.

DISCLOSURE: The boat is NOT moving.

She's a brave girl! It just gets ugly from here

WIPE OUT!

Back at the house, Riley played dress up (or dress down)

And he liked that.

NOt pictured: the countless games of ping pong (none of which I won) or me eating brisket, burgers, ribs, brownies, rice krispy treats, bottomless fruit bowls, blueberry pancakes and twizzlers.
(I have to be on the scale tuesday...oh my!) All and all, we very much enjoyed the outdoors from this weekend!
Now it's time to start the work week...me with a bigger boody/hiney and the commander with a hurt back. :0

Thanks again T&D!!!!

i heart chicago!

I dusted off my roller blades this week in hopes of teaching Riley how to use his. It was an unsuccessful attempt at getting him without jelly legs, but it did bring back fun memories of roller blading along the lake front and navy pier in the summers! I can't wait to get back up there to visit my friends. (i promise i'm coming jill)

saturday happenings
I wanted to fix us a big breakfast when I got up this morning so I started to the fridge and pantry to find 4 eggs and molded bread. Since there isn't much to do with 4 eggs (no biscuts, sausage, or bacon), we headed to IHOP for breakfast. After our VERY LARGE breakfast, the commander came home to mow the yard. Riley and I played for a while then went back to bed..I know..lazy, but I was pretty tired after an 8 day working streak.
Since we had NOTHING to eat, I headed out to get some groceries and our much needed, very practical, very boring, but requested, father's day deck box.
My shopping trip (with a list of most everything I needed) wasn't really a success. I forgot cheese dip for the tacos, cake mix for the strawberry cake previously mentioned, and sausage for the breakfast tomorrow. UGH!
That just means a trip to the grocery store tomorrow.
Speaking of the cake, I was going to attempt to make a healthier version with egg beaters instead of eggs. I've never made that substitute before when cooking so I'll let you know how it goes. Someone stop me if it's not worth it.
Then we had friends over and stayed outside most of the afternoon.
I fixed a mexican dinner (minus the cheese dip and chips) and then the highlight of my day!!!
BYE, BYE MOUSEY BROWN, DULL HAIR!!! The blonde highlights are back..finally with the help of the commander. I'm pretty sure that's all I'm allowed to say about that :).
well, now I'm going to finish Charlie Wilson's War. It's a must watch if you haven't seen it. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts and it's based on a true story.
That's all until the next post.

Today's news
Apparently I'm the last one on this bandwagon. TLC had a Jon&Kate plus 8 marathon one night this week so I'm hooked (at least until my MTV teeny bopper shows come back on..I miss you LC).

I should probably put this under another blog, but it's on my mind so I'll mention that I was really sad to hear of Tim Russert's passing today. He has been very much apart of our Sunday morning traditions. The journalism profession has lost another good one along with Daniel Pearl and David Bloom.

this week's riley-isms and strawberry cake
This week Riley wants to go back to "city dodder city" and the alphabet song goes like this: A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,"ELMO P", ETC.
and.... "i not like a pee-pee in da potty"
A nurse brought this strawberry cake to work and it was SOO good that I had two pieces before I found out what was in it or else I would have kept going!
yellow cake mix
4 eggs
1 cup oil
1 small box of strawberry jello
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. smashed strawberries
bake at 300 for 30min.
icing
1 stick butter
1LB powered sugar
1/2 cup smashed strawberries.
IT WAS YUMMY, YUMMY! TRY IT TODAY. YOU'LL BE FAT AND HAPPY IF YOU EAT THE WHOLE THING.
THANK YOU.

The trickster and the potty trainer
Does HE look up to something?

Be careful what you teach the toddler. It might come back to bite ya! He's got a trick up his sleeve. See him at work?

Waiting for just the right moment

THE REACTION

Today we will refer to the commander as "the potty trainer". He put his commander skills to work for a few hours when I headed to work. I am told there are several wet pairs of underwear that need to be washed and it took some "tough love".
I saw a boy sprint the potty for the first time ever and pee in it so it must have worked (for now anyway).
Here's the big guy with his sticker reward.

walmart events
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Carrie Underwood! She's been my favorite idol and singer since I helped her win way back when. She and Keith Urban sang for the Walmart shareholders meeting Thurs night so I went with some friends. I must admit that I was only there to see Carrie and would have left after she sang, but man am I glad we stayed! Keith stole the show and impressed me. So, now I'm a fan of his. He interacted with the audience, signed his guitar, and gave it to someone in the stands! HE ROCKS! T.Dogg pointed out that he also ran 100yards while singing and still did a great job!
I had to stop for a minute and take it all in...watching my favorite singer with friends, in my favorite stadium, with great weather in june!
Thanks Walmart for the concert in RAzorback stadium!
I couldn't sit through the numbers meeting if I had to, but Tim Mcgraw was the surprise entertainer on Friday along with Tony Bennett, Queen Latifah, David Cook, and some others.
It was fun. Too bad I didn't make it to the vendor fair :(
(must get something done with the hair after seeing that pic! UGHHH!

Silver Dollar City
Maybe it should be called "Steal your dollar city"...NO, it was fun.
We spent Tuesday and this morning taking in all the amusement rides.

Tall enough to ride the big rides (fire in the hole is my favorite)

getting wet on the water log ride

ON STRIKE from standing in lines. I have to brag on the little fella. He did SO GOOD all day and was such a trooper on Tues. I can't really say the same for today, but I think he probably had his fill by today.

Take it from me. Don't stand with your foot over a geyser while unknowingly standing directly over another one. You will spend the rest of the afternoon looking and feeling as though you had an accident in your pants.

Does this look like a boy who threw not one, but two fits on two different kiddie rides and had to get off before the ride started. I guess he's more of a fire in the hole, water log kind of ride kid. In the mean time, picture Ross riding the kiddie ride by himself. That was amusing.
