dugger clan

she's gonna have another one!

wednesday

i'm loving my wednesday's off now! first, it was a full day of power shopping. we hit the stores HARD! riley started dozing off in old navy this afternoon, but he got his second wind when sam and sofia came over to swim.

unfortunately, bed time didn't come soon enough. he ate a noodle when his head bobbled into it!
Going...

Going...

Gone..

It was really quite pitiful, but I just couldn't stop laughing at the little bobble head. He's never done that before!

fishing trip

grandaddy and dodo took riley fishing on memorial day. i'm told he was very competitive and did not want to give the pole back. here are some cute pictures that my dad took.

Finding out about Birthday's around Christmas on Memorial Day

Whew. That was a long title.
Well, there's just not much to blog about this weekend. Worked, groceries, yadda, yadda, yadda so I just thought I would show you these little announcements that we recently sent out.

my disappointing new tool

I misled my blog readers with the hint of a new tool. It's not as exciting as I thought it would be. I thought it would be a cool, automatic, upholstery stapler.
Well.... it's only this heavy duty stapler, but look what I did with it.
Not a jelly or ketchup stain one TODAY AT LEAST!

The sewing queen (AKA my mom) took the lead in getting these chairs all clean and pretty again.
There's a few kinks from my part of the project, but they look better than before. I couldn't even bring myself to take a before pic!

how i saved $$$

this is really a last weekend blog that never got posted. it's all 'bout thriftiness and how i saved BIG!
first, tracy and i gathered lots of loot from mom and dad's "nursery". it's a free for all. here she is with some of her gatherings.

He closely monitors our "purchases"

Then the pool company recommended an expensive product called "ascorbic acid" to remove some pool stains. He was nice enough to tell me to try some vitamin C tablets to see if it would work before I spent $$$ on the expensive "ascorbic acid". Well, i remembered from school that's just a fancy name for vitamin C and I could pull out this handy tool and make my own "ascorbic acid". the rose hips will just be like adding fancy rose petals to the pool.

First, I converted this:

To this:

Then I did this:

Come to find out...It some what worked, but I needed about 3LBS worth so tomorrow I repeat the process.

happy feet

i found these on sale at jcrew. they make my feet sing.

Since it's now socially acceptable to blog about poop, I have a story to tell.
If you aren't intersted in the pooping habits of a toddler then stop reading now.
I had to get the plunger out today!! It would be considered a happy moment in my house if he actually pooped in the toilet, but he saved it for the shower and interrupted my blogging my yelling "mom, OHHHH! there's poop in the shower" (as if it just magically appeared).
transporting poop from the shower to the toilet and then plunging the toilet is nothing short of GROSS!!!!!! i'll spare you the pictures and just leave you with the mental images.

saturday nothings...

i love a saturday full of nothings.
we made an early morning walmart trip and then just hung out for a while outside.
I planted some cilantro for my fresh salsa this summer. I can't wait for the tomatoes!
Here's my soon to be very happy spot!!!!

As soon as these organic stains are removed. The pool place told me to try a few things such as Vitamin C tablets to remove them, but I don't think it's working.

I don't know what this plant is called, but it has really pretty blooms all over it.

Now, I guess I'll go fix this guy a healthy lunch like leftover pizza and then we might go walk around Sams club. I LOVE ME SOME SAMS!! He's excited that we are finally cool enough to have a card to flash at the front door.

purchases

Would you believe I was accidently shopping online and I accidently bought these items after the commander fell asleep on an early Tues. night?
And his response to my beloved purchases...
"my grandmother has a bag just like that silver one and she's been carrying it since 1978."
well, i guess we'll be twinkies!
the necklace that I most wanted was not available which means I'll have to keep shopping :)

Well, now I"m a little intimidated by the big, shiny, metallic, hunk of a bag and I'm second guessing my purchase...OH NO! HMMMM. What shoes?? Well... because quite frankly I just don't do silver shoes!!!!

mother's day weekend

My weekend started out crabby.

First, I chased Riley with these crab legs and then I stuffed myself like a fool with them! They were sooo good!!! (don't worry he was laughing the whole time, but he wouldn't dare try one)
I also made these crab cakes...they were crumbly, not so good, and my oven still smells because of them.

Then we fed the birds and rode the train around the zoo.
Riley was officially the voice of the train because all he could say during the train rides was:
CHUGGA, CHUGGA, CHUGGA, CHUGGA CCCCHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO CHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO.
please repeat that 200 times in your head..no out loud to get the idea.
thank you.

10min downpour

we just had the biggest downpour with strong winds and hail at our house. It only lasted about 10 minutes. The sun was out this morning so I didn't think it was really going to happen. I guess our weatherman was correct today.
These pictures probably don't reflect the weirdness of the storm. The sky over the front yard is dark and gloomy and the back appears to be white clouds with the sun shining though.
We had some flooding in some new places and the original places as well.

weekend pics

Riley calls this "riding a bush". we don't know why he calls it that.

OH MY!

solar power does need this tool.
when you're done being impressed with my skills be sure to check out the sticks in a bucket!!!!!!

we've got grass and flowers

Here is the landscaping that I worked on last weekend. It appears that one plant that was transplanted from the back flower bed may not make it. That's ok because there is plenty more where that came from to replace it.
I was going to add another flower bed but I am mulched out and a trip to Tulsa sounds so much better for this weekend so grass will go where the dirt currently resides. Most of the loot came from mom and dad's. Tracy and I both loaded up last weekend. My flower pots are not photo worthy. UMMM...for some reason I bought the smallest possible plants available in 6 packs and they need some lovin before they can be photographed. I did add to them to spruce 'um up a little, but they will have to be revealed on another day. I don't know what to do with those extra flowers that stick out like sore thumbs in that ugly hanging basket so they sit there until I find them a home.

This pesky clover is only welcome when his little leprechaun friend drops off his pot of gold right next to it!

The tool woman hurts...

It was a busy weekend and I'm feelin it now! I got lots of stuff in during my two days off from the workplace. I shopped, gardened, cooked out at my parents house, did some light cleaning and laundry and used my big, strong power washer.
I didn't have my camera for the cookout, but we enjoyed seeing Tracy, Dale and Scott.
Pictures to follow...now it's time for rest!!

airing my dirty laundry

I'm going to put it out there in all of it's messy glory for some suggestions!
I HATE... DESPISE...DREAD.. REGRET THINKING OF EVEN DOING, CAN NOT STAND...my laundry!

I realize that there are so many worse things out there that I could have to do day in and day out, but this is one of those tasks that I just don't look forward to. I like to think I'm organized. It's almost compulsive, but I just can't get a good system down for my laundry. It's not even that hard of a task to accomplish, but I just can't get it to work for me. It's getting worse too because it did not used to be this bad. I used to just dread putting the laundry up and now it's the whole system of gathering, washing, moving to dryer, folding and putting away. I'm failing miserably! The commander does his own laundry now so maybe I could convince him to take on mine :)

Here's the messy glory from the start. I used to have two baskets (one for colors and one for whites). Now it all goes in the floor...GASP!!!!

From here..it eventually makes it to the washing machine where it sits until it might smell again so I have to wash it again (not earth friendly!)
Then it sits here for awhile to get extra wrinkly until the commander gives up on me and throws this pile on the counter.

Well I can't look at it all piled on the table so that forces me to fold it and it sits here for awhile.

Eventually, it will go here...almost back to the closet and sometimes (not very often) it gets put back up. Mostly, I just pilfer through and get what I need.
See, my system is so full of flaws! I just need to suck it up and get it all done in one night instead of dragging it out over a weeks span.

I guess some motivation came from that because I"m going to get it done..right NOW!
