A day in the life of a super hero

Sometimes even the occasional super hero stops to read the "eggs and meat" book.
They eat "chickens, ducks, and rabbits" for energy
They are not immune to bad hair days and sometimes forget to zip their pants.
Even super heroes need the occasional "poo poo powder" to keep them regular.
They entertain their peers.
And that sums up the adventures of yesterday! Who knows what lies ahead for today. A super hero will keep you on your toes!
At 15 weeks, this guy just takes it all in, waiting patiently for his moment to shine as a superhero. (he is quietly bragging that he NEVER has a bad hair day

Spring Break

It's that time of year for an annual spring break for some. The Aunt Fairy and her family are off skiing. So fun.
For me, this time of year means perking up the flower pots and I need your help. Every year I try really hard to make them look great and every year they end up looking everything, but that. Last year, Dodo brought me a magazine telling me exactly what to put in them. So I headed to Lowe's to get my flowers, but they didn't have the species that I was looking for so I tried to "make do". OH MY! Who knew there were so many versions of salvia. Now, I'm no master gardener like my Aunt Bettie so please help me spruce up my pots by telling me what you put in yours to make them look spectatular. How do you arrange them?
I can't wait to try your suggestions.

Sweet Feet and Toddler toes-14 weeks

Tell me, what is half so sweet
As a baby’s tiny feet,
Pink and dainty as can be,
Like a coral from the sea?
Talk of jewels strung in rows,
Gaze upon those little toes,
Fairer than a diadem,
With the mother kissing them!

Little feet, so rich with charm,
May you never come to harm.
As I bend and proudly blow
Laughter out of every toe,
This pray, that God above
Shall protect you with His love,
And shall guide those little feet
Safely down life’s broader street.

A beautiful day

Usually one of the first things Riley will ask in the morning is "Is it a boo-t-ful day?" Well, Monday it was indeed! We took advantage of the weather by going on a walk and staying outside.
Look at the multitalented toddler riding his scooter. Please take note that his shoes are on backwards as were his socks. He is into dressing himself and expressing his independence.

This was Caden's first stroller ride. He enjoyed it.

Caden 13-weeks
We hit the 3 mos mark!
*Caden still doesn't have a consistent sleep pattern at night.
*He is trying to roll over
*LOVES to be talked to. He will try to talk back.
*Smiles with his whole body.
*Has a big brother who thinks the little brother hung the moon!
I think Caden is starting to look like a chunkier version of Riley. I need to post some who's who pictures sometime.

Willis vs SEARS

According to the Chicago Sun Times, the Sears tower is being renamed.
It will now be referred to as the Willis Tower. WHAAAA??? What you talkin' 'bout Willis?!
I for one don't want the iconic structure renamed! Willis, an insurance group out of Chicago, will occupy 3% of the office space and won over the naming rights.
Sorry Willis people, but I will be visiting the SEARS TOWER when I visit my beloved Chicago.
Here are some SEARS TOWER facts:
Rentable space: 3.8 million square feet
Percent vacancy: 15.8
Typical floor size: 34,373 square feet
Quoted rents: $14 to $21 per square foot
No. of tenants: More than 90
Recession Fashion

Kelly is having a linky party where she asked people to leave tips on dressing for less. Who doesn't love a good sale, right?
There are some great websites from her loyal followers that I never knew existed.
1. Get 30% off Banana Republic, Gap, and Old Navy for 4 days starting today. Read about it here. YAY! An excuse to get to the mall.
2. Another follower suggested finding things at the best price by going to
www.beatmyprice.com. Simply type in the information and the website will try to find it at a better price. If you have the lower price then it becomes the price to beat.
3. And finally, www.retailmenot.com for a list of coupon codes.
(I finally figured out to google promotional codes when shopping online).
Happy shopping!

Insert clever title here.
This post is going to be so random that I couldn't come up with an appropriate title.
I've had so many things that I wanted to share, but couldn't ever find a good time to get them posted so here they are bundled in one, BIG, random, post!
1. Remember when you could just open a drink to find that you were an instant winner? Well, this week it occurred to me that I could be throwing away luxury cars or dream vacations with all the diet cokes that I drink. I wanted to know what exactly is behind that long chain of jibberish numbers and letters so I went to www.mycokerewards.com to find out. After I went through the lengthy registration process and promised to be an American citizen, I learned that my diet coke just earned me 3 points. Twenty four points earns you a free drink.
2. Do you know why our local Sams is the coolest store ever? If you were going to say because of the lights in the frozen food cases that automatically light up as you walk down the aisle then you are close. However, the actual reason IS....drum roll....... the little flower stand between the frozen chicken and produce section! You can find the best flowers and at such great prices one would never feel guilty about throwing them in the cart for no reason at all.
These are just yummy and were sitting next to the flowers so they got photographed.
What's your favorite frozen treat?
Oh look, the toddler thinks I'm not looking. Lets just sit back and watch.
I think he's meeting his objective.
And he scores..
Here appears to be a half eaten banana on the living room table!
In the corner of the unedited picture above is a baby toy that this guy likes to sit under. The toddler says he "squiggles" around and bats at the things that hang down.
Notice his first injury this week. Those finger nails were dangerous!
And finally....
Our local chick fil a is giving away free Chicken mini's every Monday in March.
How's that for a special treat to kick off the work week!
MUST RUN...The commander just yelled "HONEY...um HONEY" I need to go see who he's talking to!
Update: Turns out it's a poopy diaper that he doesn't want to change. UGH! I can't complain. I do have this going for me.

I ate the string cheese!
Nanny posted about how much cheese was in her refrigerator. It must run in the family because I had to go look at how much cheese we go through in a short amount of time. The cheese in the baggie comes from Sams. We buy it in bulk and repackage it! It doesn't last very long either.
This must be why my boody-hiney feels so big!
Does anyone else have this much cheese sitting in your refrigerator?
It sure is good! I love any kind of cheese (or chocolate).
Week 12 in review
The commander has been gone for two weeks and to say it has been exhausting is really down playing it. I've fixed some higher end meals in the last two weeks. One night the toddler looked at his plate and said "OH YAY! IT'S PICKLE SANDWICHES!" He ate 3/4ths of it too. Baby Caden was equally excited about his Similac cocktail.
I'll let you in on the pickle sandwich secret.
You will need the following:
2 pieces of bread
cheese of your choice
turkey (you can substitute the meat of your choice)
mustard
sandwich pickles
serve with chips! HA!!!
The beautiful, bald headed, baby is doing great at the baby sitters. He still doesn't sleep all night. He gets up once or twice. The toddler and I like to wiggle his ears and say that he's making funny faces. It makes him laugh and that just feeds the whole visious cycle.
I'll leave you with this rockin' version of Twinkle,Twinkle...

A baby and a bath-11 weeks

When you get a sweet smelling, bald baby in a robe, well..it's almost too much goodness for any one person to handle!
WE went to the pediatrician last week. The doctor said he was the most talented baby he had ever seen. OK..Not really, but we think he could win a fist eating contest amongst his peers.
He's like a ferocious piranha with that thing!
I'm sure you are just dying to know his stats so here you go:
His weight of 11.12 LBS is equivalent to two hamburger packages at Sams. That puts him in the 32nd percentile...Don't mess with the future wrestler.
He's 23.5 inches which is 53% for height. There's nothing wrong with average and C's are degrees. That's a good philosophy to have because his noggin is 39.5in or 23%.
Luckily, we aren't trying out for the quiz bowl this month.
