Treats.

We started our Halloween festivities by trick or treating on the square this afternoon.
We met Sam and Noah (with their parents) for round 1.

We ate dinner at our favorite pizza place and then walked around the block.

This is when Riley REALLY got into the trick or treating!
1. Instead of saying trick or treat he would say "I WANT SOME". We worked on that one and he finally got the trick or treat and thank you down pat.
2. He told one kind home owner "now shut your door" after he got his candy.
3. He put his hand up after receiving some candy at one house and said "give me five". I guess he got good stuff at that house so they were instant friends.

He came off his sugar high pretty fast because he was in bed and asleep by 8:30 and I'm pretty sure we have enough candy to last us until next year...oh my!

Trunk or Treat

We went to a local church for a trunk or treat event.



Each station was really clever. Some of our favorites were a john deer tractor and bean bag toss, a trailer with leaves to dig for candy, and a truck to fish for candy.





Riley wanted to eat a "hollipop" when we got home. I couldn't bring myself to correct him so I just had him repeat a few more times before I gave him his "hollipop"

let's talk some more NUTT

I wonder what Houston Nutt thinks about beating his own team. Those were his players on the field so next year I hope we beat them and beat them BIG!
It was also pretty clever that he timed his appearance at the same time the Razorbacks ran onto the field. Unfortunately for him, the fans caught on pretty quick and still boo'd him.
It was good to see Danny Nutt from the side lines pat Casey Dick on the back with his first long run of the game. The Democrat Gazette had a picture of Houston Nutt hugging him after the game. I just wish we would have won!
There..I think I got it all out now and am done blogging on the Ole Miss vs. Arkansas game now.

Ole Miss NUTTS and Arkansas

According to the Democrat Gazette, an overflow crowd of 74,168 people came into town this weekend to watch the Ole Miss Rebels barely beat the Razorbacks! It took us over an hour to get to the local Chick Fil A to meet my sister with our tickets. I'm estimating that there were about 52,769 people getting off the same exit at the same time. It was CROWDED, but the good sister delivered the tickets and we made it to the stadium for some tailgating fun.

First, its always fun to people watch on game days. I think it's more the style watching that I enjoy. I don't remember wearing 3 inch heels with cleverly made razorback shirts when I was in college, but then again that was...10 years ago...SIGH!

We tailgated in the pit with some of Ross's friends before the game. I'm not kidding when I tell you that the 3 year old ate 3 plates of finger foods plus peanuts, rice krispy treats, and popcorn at the game. The boy likes his tailgating food!

STILL EATING



We normally have 3 seats together, but they were a little harder to come by this time. Grandaddy was able to get Riley a seperate ticket...a seatback one at that! I didn't think it would be very nice to make him sit in it since ours were in a different section so I watched the game with a 3 year old in my lap and a 32 weeker in my ribs. It got a little uncomfortable towards the end, but he did really well. I think it was because he didn't have a lot of wiggle room.


He was told a few times to keep his hands to himself because he kept trying to zip his dad's jacket up to the top. Riley thinks if you are wearing a jacket then it should be zipped all the way to the top. That's the way he likes to roll... a very zipped up jacket!


Riley watched the hogs with great intensity the first half (the hog mascots, not football players), and "the woovers" (imagination movers) on his DVD player the 2nd half. That ended up coming in very handy because we sat in front of a shouting fan and the master mimic-er repeated everything he heard from the eager fan. Luckily, it was only things like.."why didn't you do that at Arkansas, Nutt? or "that looks familiar!" I was worried he was going to pick up some new words, but it was all clean...and LOUD.

happy b'day dodo!

We went to Dodo's b'day party today for appetizers, petit fours, and "hay rides".
I missed the b'day girl getting her hay ride, but here are the other two suckers.
The Aunt knows that Riley doesn't like the tractor started, but she offered to start it for him anyway and was quickly put in her place with a "NO YOU DON'T".




These two visited while trying to tune out the bossy hay ride driver in the back ground. He didn't really ASK people to come on his hay ride. He more like demanded it.


This is me trying to figure out why I have tripled in size over the last 3 days. It probably has something to do with eating burgers and pizza during Arkansas's largest Garage Sale (AKA...War Eagle).
If you have a little girl then you can find some cute stuff, but there are only the occasional wooden trucks and tractors for boys. Other than that, you can expect to see a LOT of yard art and wood carvings. I think I'll sit it out next year.


Look what mom got for the little guys. I just LOVE them. We need tickets to the game this weekend so Riley can wear his.

The Sky is Morning

This morning when Riley woke up he informed me that "the sky is morning".
It was 6am so I said Well, it's still dark outside and he replied..NO, THE SKY IS MORNING. IT'S TIME TO GET UP!
Since our babysitter is on vacation in California, we left to meet my mom EARLY this morning. When we got outside he was surprised that it was still dark.
I'll bet he asked me 10 times on the way if the sky was morning yet. I'm thinking if the sky is not morning by the time we get up then we are up WAY to early! :)

Mom and Riley stopped by Walmart so she called me after the fact to tell me what he said.
First, he told her that he REALLY NEEDED that car. (That car was the display of the battery operated jeep). She finally convinced him that it would not fit in the car so he picked out another toy (a small truck).
Mom: how about this one?
riley: yep, i think it'll do the trick!
I hope talking him out of the jeep will be that easy when he's 16!!!
When they got to the car he asked her if it had to go in the trunk until Christmas.

OK...so I bought A toy with him ONE TIME and told him maybe he would get it for Christmas.
a) i didn't think he would remember
b) i didn't think he was really paying attention.
I guess I won't be shopping for him when he's taking in everything.
One more work day and then I'm sleeping until the sky is morning!!!

Columbus Day Sightings

I like to carry my camera with me at all times because you never know what you might come across that needs to be photographed. Today, I found all sorts of things worth documenting especially for my friends who live in big cities. They don't get to see such entertaining stuff on a daily basis.
First, The commander and I passed these frolicking chickens with their flying feathers that landed on our wind shield and almost caused an accident. OK, they didn't really land on our wind shield, but they were floating in the wind and it made for a good run on sentence anyway. (This was on our way to Pottery Barn)


Bye, Bye chickens. I'll see you in my local grocery store next week.


After our shopping trip, we headed to pick up the little guy and found this deal on the side of the road. That's the beauty of living in a good sized town with lots of smaller surrounding towns. The smaller surrounding towns have tons of give aways such as this.


I had to stop and take a closer look because there appears to be a description attached to the electric pole and sure enough it is....
The note explains that the doors can be used as exterior or interior doors and they too are free.


As we headed a little closer to our residence, we had to follow this guy.

You can imagine my frustration of following him after a large tea and bottled water.

And finally, if you want to put the free toilet and doors in your house then you might just need these large items that are also for sale on the side of the road.

And there you have it...My Columbus Day sightings while out shopping.

I have to give credit where credit is due and the commander has been very patient over the past few months..
Just tonight he has heard:
RRROOOOOOOOOOOOSSS: can you take him outside to play? (that would be ROSS sounded out over 3+ seconds)
ROOOOOOSSSSS!!!!...can you put dinner in the oven?
RRROOOOOSSSSSS...can you rub my back?
HEY ROOOOOOOSSSSSSS can you put Riley to bed?
ROOOOOOOOOSSSSSS: can you bring me some water?

And NOT ONE complaint or hesitation!!! He never misses a beat.
Thanks commander! Maybe he'll enjoy his Columbus day vacation.
(As for me, I don't normally celebrate Columbus day, but I took off this year so I could have a Columbus Day vacation. What kind of "holiday" is this anyway? I hope it's one where Wall Street and the banks are open and doing whatever they can to help the economy)
The shameful CEO's should be working overtime!
(sorry for that little rant..it's my condition) Oh, and don't listen to me when I rant. I have no idea what I'm even talking about.

Pumpkin Patches

A couple of people have asked about pumpkin patches so I'm posting my official pumpkin patch reviews.

Last year we visited Wild Things Farm outside of Ft. Smith (in Pocola, OK). It's a really good one with games and an entertaining hay ride that stops to visit/pet horses.
We didn't go back this year because it's a bit far.

McGarrah Farms is the one we visited this year. It's not quite as big or nice, but it includes a hay ride and you can cut your own pumpkin off the vine.

This patch is right outside of Tontitown. We haven't been here, but it sounds like it might be worth a trip.

Am I going to have to know the names of all the galaxies when he's 4?? I have no idea where he picked up MARS.

His nickname has always been Riley bug or Riley Rooster.

We had CNN on the TV the other night and Riley asked us "what's a company?"
I just looked at Riley's dad for the answer to that one.
His response: It's like Walmart or Target.
Then he asked me "What you thinking bout mama?" I said I'm thinking about what you might ask us when you're 5???

Tonight he needed "a vitamin to feel me better"
and finally...he likes to watch "Scooby Dude"

BABY NEEDS A NAME GIVEAWAY...

I'm in a good mood this morning because I saw $5 hanging from the pocket of a pair of pants that I haven't worn in months. That's always a fun little find.

I'm in a bind though because baby still needs a name!! We have a "he's going to get it by default name", but we need some suggestions and let's face it...looking through rows and rows of baby names is just not that inspiring.
I will announce the prize sometime tomorrow or Fri, but I'm announcing the give away now so you can be thinking.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to a local pumpkin patch on Sunday afternoon.
Riley thought it was pretty funny when I asked him if he thought there was a pumpkin under my jacket.
HURRY UP COLD WEATHER! I have officially run out of warm weather clothes and baby mama desperately needs a hair cut and color fix!

Back to the pumpkin patch..
We read this book before our trip so Riley would know how pumpkins grow.
