Thursday.

I just sat down to do a hump day happy! It's been a crazy month. Where has it gone and how is it that we are already approaching the holiday season? It just seems like I put my Christmas tree back in the attic a few weeks ago. GEEZ!

Here's some bullets from this month:
*We went to a "pumpkin patch"--turns out it was really a field full of fun activities, but there was no real patch so we purchased two pumpkins from Wal Mart. Not even cool, by the way! We painted them and placed them in various places around the house.
*We've been going to football games just about every weekend. It's fun, but the walk around campus can be exhausting. I told the Commander that college kids are weak these days. They "scooter" around instead of running to early morning classes. Not cool either.
*We went to a trunk or treat. There are more candy filled festivities in store for the weekend. I'm just going to tell the truth here. I send my kids to these events to collect candy for myself. That's just an added perk if they have fun while they are there. :)
*I picked more green tomatoes tonight then I did red ones all summer long. The plants are large and lush and full of blooms. I guess they will all wilt tonight because we are expecting temperatures in the 20s. BRRRR...
*One of my friends posted this on facebook and I found it very amusing. It's from one of the radio greats, Craig Oneill, back when they could prank people on the radio.

Dear Kathie Lee,

Please don't wipe your nose with your finger while you're talking on television. It's just not flattering. Poor Hoda. She's the reason I even bother to give NBC mid morning ratings, but after that snot scene I'm turning the television to watch the women of The View yell over each other.
Why am I even sitting here watching television? My lazy-itis flared so bad this weekend. I have a mound of dirty laundry, the groceries are still sitting on the counter, and the house is a wreck!
ARGGG!
Must.get.motivated!

It's a Monday around here, folks!
My refrigerator looks like the Duggars' are coming over for breakfast. We now have a designated Pillsbury drawer because I forgot the grocery list...TWICE!

sleepy, sleepy, tired, tired.

I feel like we've got a newborn baby in our house again. I'm getting paged at all hours of the night now that the Wild Thing has mastered climbing out of his bed.
Every time he climbs out I've been putting him right back in it. It has become a game for him, but not so much for me.
At least he's consistent in his routine when he climbs out of the crib. He goes to the recliner, yells MOMMA over and over, then waits for me. The other night I decided not to go in right away to see what happened and he fell asleep! I should take a picture of him sprawled out in the recliner, but at 1:00am I'm just happy to put him back in his crib and get some sleep myself. WHEW!

The craft fairs are taking over our area this weekend. People from all over the country come to set up booths. Maybe I'll get to visit some of the craft fairs at the convention centers this weekend, but we have the Preschooler's fall festival, the Razorback game, and a visit to the pumpkin patch on Sunday so I don't know if I'll get to them or not.

I can't BELIEVE we are approaching the holiday season! It's always fun to find holiday things at the craft fairs. Have you started to think about Christmas shopping or do you wait until after Christmas? I was an early shopper last year, but I'm holding off this year. I have an idea of what to get the kids and that's always half the battle for me. We have a BIG 2 year birthday right around the corner too. There's a farm animal party in the works. Poor kid. I always felt bad for the kids who had birthdays in December. It seems like such a bummer. Maybe we'll come up with some creative celebrations for 1/2 birthdays through out the years.
Have a good weekend. My goal is to find some time this weekend to get rested.

There is an ornery one in our group. Betcha can't guess which one it is.
Bless his heart, I don't know where he gets it and poor LC she was stuck right in the middle of it all.
One wouldn't quit picking on her and the other couldn't stop staring at her.
We lasted five minutes at the pumpkin patch.


Only in Dallas is it 205 degrees in the fall so we headed for the air conditioning where we enjoyed lunch. Thanks girls! It was fun.

Joy in my heart.

There are so many simple things from our weekend trip to Dallas that brought me joy. It will take several blog posts to share them all, but tonight I'll share the one that I was most pleasantly surprised in finding.

The shampoo for kids and adults at the Great Wolf Lodge is Divine.
I mean really. How many hotels have you stayed in where you preferred their shampoo to your own? Never.
I meant to visit the salon and purchase a bottle of this before we left, but I forgot. The shampoo is warm vanilla and I.Love.It. I'm pretty sure I can order it online, but I told the house keeper how much I liked it and she sent me home with a small stash so that's pure joy.

The Wild Thing especially loved the soap for kids. It has a bubble gum scent that smells good enough to eat and he tried to do just that.

It was also fun to meet the sweet lady who was in charge of the Cub Club during Under Cover Boss. She's just as bubbly and sweet in person as she was on TV. I loved visiting the Great Wolf Lodge. We'll definitely be making this trip again.

Houston, We have a problem.

Makin a list.

Today I've been scratching things off my list and getting things done before we make an extensive road trip for the first time as a family of four.
I realized today that packing for such a thing is no easy task. When I was younger we got a pillow and a coloring book. If I was lucky then I got to bring my speak and spell. We shook our fists up and down at large trucks to get them to honk and played the license plate game. It was fun, but for my own sanity I'll not be teaching this simple lesson and we'll be packing all the modern forms of entertainment made for long trips.
I'm almost ready to go and it's only Monday.
Snacks packed-check
Laundry done-check
House cleaned-check

Now it's time to focus on the fun stuff. Putting up more fall decorations and planting mums.

This week the HOGS will be playing Texas A&M and after our last defeat we might need some prayers. This one is stolen from the die hards and is probably OH SO WRONG, but it made me smile so here you go. Use it if you feel compelled to lift up the hogs this Saturday.
