Sesame Place

I just tonight found out this place even existed thanks to Jon and Kate plus 8.
I immediately got on my computer to find out where it was and how to get there.
Southwest flies to Philadelphia so I'm going to start watching for specials. Plus, I found different coupon codes for discounted tickets.
If anyone else is interested in meeting out there sometime please let me know.
Riley would LOVE this place.

army wives and such

(couldn't really find a better picture so squint :)

I LOVE, LOVE this show! It's better than Desperate Housewives so if you're into that
then you will like Army Wives.

Sundays 9pm on Lifetime.
I think it is reaired on Monday nights.

Today I took some time for a much needed pedicure. I think all girls should make time every so often and do this for yourself. I have pretty much decided that manicures are a waste, but a good pedicure is SO worth it. I went to a new place today and it was great. I wanted to load up that girl and bring her home with me. She twisted my foot in ways I didn't know my foot needed to be twisted and pushed in places that that I didn't know my foot needed to be pushed, but I learned today that it did. I wanted to curl up in a ball and take a nap!

Then I fixed spagetti for supper, but realized half way through that I didn't have what I needed so we loaded up and made a quick trip to Harps. Riley jumped on the cart that is really an oversized car. I quickly learned that I'm not licensed to drive such a thing after taking out the macaroni, nearly hitting another cart TWICE, and clipping a rack of books (no harm done). When I took a closer look, the thing was only running on 3 wheels so I felt a little better about my fiasco all for 2 cans of tomato sauce.

This is my mom's recipe and it's so good that I think I'll share it with ya. I altered just a little because I like mine less meaty.

1 LB hamburger meat
1/2 package of hot sausage ( i think i used mild)

2 small onions (i use 1/2 onion)
1 green pepper
1/2-1 tsp garlic powder

add
2 cans tomato sauce
1 can tomato paste
1 cup ketchup
1 cup water
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt and pepper

simmer on low 1 hour

you won't be disappointed!

Baby News

Well, you spoke and I listened (some demanded and others shouted), but never the less I took your advice and took a peek.

It's a BOY!
Here he is at 19 weeks.

A bit of explanation...the thing coming from his forehead and above his eye is actually movement. He's really not alien-like. If you can see well enough from the picture, he has his pinky and hand sticking up almost saying "Go Texas". WE WILL CORRECT THAT ON DAY 1!!
Our radiology dept asked if I would volunteer for a 3D ultrasound when I am further along so their new technician could practice...OF COURSE! This was taken Tues in the clinic, but it's a little too soon to get good 3D pictures. I'll post some better ones in a few weeks and I'll bet we'll get to say the little fella is cute.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY!

Good food, Good fun, Good time!

Gone Fishin

Come along and I'll take you on an entertaining fishing trip with this guy:

It's alot of fun to sit and wait for a fish.
There's lots of things to look at while patiently waiting.

In fact, it's all fun and games until the fish start biting. R. didn't quite know what to think so he decided to watch from a distance.

He wanted no part of this fish and would not even look at it.
Now he's going to hide from the fish so he doesn't have to look at it.

Grandaddy is saying he's going to let the fish go so Riley peeks from here.

WHEW! The fish has been safely returned to his home so Riley returned to give it a proper good bye.

Unfortunately for Grandaddy, this park was close by and the merry go round won against fishing.

Thank you little fish for your full cooperation. The memories you provided will be cherished forever.

Slip N Slide

Riley explored a real fire truck earlier today and then had fun on the slip and slide at Grandaddy and Dodo's. Dodo put soap on it so he could go fast. I'm thinking that counts as a bath :)

monday-funday!

I just couldn't go to work today. It had everything to do with this...

and this..

My understanding coworker agreed to give herself a long weekend next weekend. It's rough.
I had too much to do...like these cherries that needed pitting.

The toddler let me sleep until 7:45 ( I didn't set my alarm because I figured if I woke up in time then it was a sign to go to work, but I didn't so the long weekend was meant to be). He has asked numerous times to go to Nana's to play with J&J so I dropped him off and headed to lunch with the commander. Now it's quiet and nice and I can enjoy things like this..(which I'm proud to announce are salmonella free)

The only thing missing is fresh salsa and friends (that are probably at work) to enjoy it with.
Next on the agenda, maybe a nap and poppy seed chicken for dinner.

I think I could used to this. If only I was just brave enough to take the plunge for good!

If you want to keep track of your blog traffic simply add this tracker.
It's pretty neat and you can still keep track of your blog without everyone having to open a google account.
Enjoy!

sunday

Today, I met up with a child hood friend that I haven't seen for years (Brit).
She looked the VERY SAME as the last time I saw her. I think the last time was when I borrowed her Richard Caruso Molecular rollers. You know the ones! They were "as seen on TV" and you got instantaneous curls in 30 seconds. Yep, they were COOL!
She moved to the area so we'll get to hang out more often now.
Then Becca and Sam came over to swim. That Sam can GO FAST and FAR!

Then I cooked 4LBS of ravioli! You are probably wondering why I might cook the whole bag for 3 people. Well, I forgot to put it in the freezer last night so I was afraid it was ruined. We ate about 7 pieces between us all and i'm sure the rest will find it's way to the trash and I will NOT be making that mistake again. I wasn't about to try and salvage the fish so that was a total loss.
Now, I"m off to get the little man in bed and watch a movie with the commander. He's been gone all weekend. Have a good week!

THE DREADED HAIRCUT!

Remember the previous post re: home hair cuts because the public haircuts are traumatic to both me and the kid??? I'm bringing the truth of it to the blog. I just so happened to have my camera in my purse and yes, the woman looked at me like I was crazy when I pulled it out. I just said sorry, no one believes me.
He was actually better this time. The arched back scream was not as long as normal, the spitting only occurred twice, and he didn't jump out of the chair.
Here is child A personality:

Might I add that this is the ONLY time that this child ever throws fits?

Here is child B personality 10 steps out of the salon:
This is the same child who doesn't even climb out of his bed in the mornings (or ever) when he wakes up and also the same child who has never had an accident since potty trained.
OH BUT A HAIRCUT! That brings it out of him. He saves all that energy just for a haircut and we are running out of places to go since I'm too embarrassed to go back to the same place twice!

(Personality B is so proud of himself for getting a haircut..he's saying (in a hoarse voice "mama, i got a haircut")

i'm a dreamer...

so...tonight the commander and I went to dinner..alone..which we rarely do, but should do more often and i started on about my new passion...or rather my new obsession with martha's vineyard and nantucket island. i don't want to go on vacation there or simply visit. i want to move there..even if it's only for a year.
i asked if the commander could look into job opportunities (to which he agreed, but then added don't count on availabilities). then he went on about expenses with keeping a house in AR and making ends meet blah, blah ,blah. he wasn't speaking my language so i went back to visualizing my sailing in the waters and riding bikes to the boutiques.
finally, on the way home when I was still going on about living there i settled for a 6 mos hiatus until i could retire there. i would even settle for a month of living on the island....ahhh.
apparently, i got him thinking because he still hasn't put up the dishes in the dishwasher because he's doing his own internet research on the place. heeheh
in the mean time, i'll continue being tempted by the coastal living magazines that wait for me on mom's table and continue my internet research and dreams of beach side properties for rent or sale.
more on this later...

4th of July Spectacular

We had a cook out with Ross's parents during the day and then we went to a Natural's game to watch fireworks. It was awesome! I thought I wasn't going to hear my favorite "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood, but they saved it for last. My only request for next year would be to play it louder. It was a little hard to hear over the fireworks that lit the entire sky over NWA! Riley was not really into them this year so maybe he'll appreciate them next year.
The game was fun, but the Naturals lost by one.
