Christmas, Christmas, Christmas

I am behind with online shopping and blogging because I've been busy with Christmas. I should be ashamed for neglecting my favorite holiday by jumping right to Christmas, but I got a jump start on Christmas painting, shopping, and decorating. At least we are waiting until after Thanksgiving to put up the tree, but everything else is almost done. The commander and I shopped all day on Tuesday!!

This frame makes me smile.

random updates

*The tentative induction date for new baby is DEC 11! The OB and anesth. DR's that were involved with Riley's delivery are available again so that's good. New baby needs to cooperate so everything can be planned and coordinated. :)
By the way, that baby ticker at the top of the page makes me a little nervous every time I see it, but I suffer from pregnancy brain and really need it to keep up with my progress.

*Riley had a revelation this week.
He wants to be a trash truck driver when he grows up. The commander and Riley watched the recycle truck pick up our trash this week so he's been obsessed with trash pick up ever since.
He will tell you that a trash truck driver gets to wear a hat and puts the trash in the back of the truck with an arm. Lucky for us, Tonka makes a trash truck for such little boys.
*We pulled out the play doh this week so that's been his favorite past time.
He calls it "kee doh". We have corrected him, but he just can't remember and calls it kee doh. Tonight he is making supper (chicken pot pies) with it and HUMMING loudly.
*I'm off to watch the CMA's and put up Christmas decorations. Yep, already.

Dear Pixie Stix,

Are you aware that your colored, very tempting, sugary sticks are resulting in corruption and civil disobedience amongst the toddler population in our house?

I would like to introduce exhibits A and B to the people.
Please note the presence of some minor un-truths, fake fits, and pillow destruction as a result of the sugar source.

I would also like to disclose that this very squirmy toddler is SLEEPY! Supper and bedtime are in the very near future!!!!

Since this conversation, we have heard the following:
5:15-I don't want in the hot tub!!! (bold toddler statement)
5:18--I WAAAAAANNT IN THE HOOOOOOT TUUUUUUBBBBB (very whiney statement)

5:30--I don't want to take a bath!! (bold)
5:40--I ddddonnnnnn't wwwant to get out of the baaaaaaathhhhh!!!! (whiney)

5:45: I don't want jammies! (bold)
5:46 I waaaaannnnnnnt my jjjjaaaaaamies! (whiney)

I'm pretty sure we are going to hear the same over supper now.
Pixie Stix,
It all started with you.

Welcome Back HOGS!!!

WHAT A GAME...and to think I was trying to sell my tickets. Riley and I were both tired from the busy week and the commander had to work so I was planning on leaving during the 3rd qtr. We ended up staying the whole time and it was worth it!

If you don't feel old already, then let me help you out by telling you Dennis Johnson, the freshman who scored the game winning touchdown on a 96 yard kick off return, was born in 1990! Yep, I'm pretty sure we were all old enough to baby sit that whipper snapper! (just showing my age there :) )

We arrived at the stadium in time for a quick tail gate with Grandaddy and Dodo then headed to some vacant seats near them. I almost didn't bring my camera (I thought we had enough pictures being 5 games into it now, but I'm glad I did because the trees looked beautiful and Riley played in them while we ate Subway. I sat back and snapped away so I could spend today attempting to make 'em look real nice using photoshop.
Here's a few..

He will be quizzed on the location of Old Main and The Fight Song later this week.

Sometime during the 3rd qtr Riley said "The hogs are losing. The game is over."
Then I looked over and found him like this much to my surprise. We haven't seen this since he was about 3mos old!

Fight the Flu

We are taking extra precautions this year to stay well with new baby being born in the middle of flu season.
Here's a few facts about the flu and a reminder to get your flu vaccine this year.
*The flu virus can live on hard surfaces in your home for up to 48 hours. Use a disinfectant to wipe down door handles and computers.
*The flu season usually lasts from the end of Oct through March

*The CDC offers the following recommendations:
People who should get vaccinated each year are:

1. Children aged 6 months up to their 19th birthday
2. Pregnant women
3. People 50 years of age and older
4. People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
5. People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
6. People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including:
a. Health care workers
b. Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu
c. Household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age (these children are too young to be vaccinated)

There are some people who should not be vaccinated without first consulting a physician. These include

* People who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs.
* People who have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination.
* People who developed Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of getting an influenza vaccine.
* Children less than 6 months of age (influenza vaccine is not approved for this age group), and
* People who have a moderate-to-severe illness with a fever (they should wait until they recover to get vaccinated.)
