Cel-arrgh-brating

AHOY Mateys! Today was about lootin' treasures on the town square.
Life’s pretty good, and why wouldn’t it be? I’m a pirate, after all.
These Gentlemen o' fortune are enjoyin' enough sugary treats to last til Christmas.

$10 off any $10 purchase at Lands End

This tip courtesy of Fantabulously Frugal is too good not to pass along.
Now..go forth and shop.

It's whats for dinner.

I suffer from "we don't have anything to eat" syndrome when in reality we have lots to eat. I just forget what ingredients from the pantry can be put together to form a meal. So, no more eating out, hot dogs, or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for this week. These easy meals sit as a reminder of what good things are ready to come.
I really need to move outside my comfort zone of hamburger meat and chicken.
(Feel free to send easy recipes my way).
Tonight we can scratch Chicken pot pie off the list. I'll be honest. It wasn't a fan favorite.

One of these kids is VERY picky about what he puts in his mouth. The other one...well, not so much.

Home remedies.

We've each taken our turn with a nagging cough this week. Yesterday, started my round with this mess. I was pleased to see the preschooler cough into his arm when he was inflicted with it.
Tonight, I tried rubbing the bottoms of my feet with vicks vapor rub then covering them with socks. We'll see how it works. I wish I had some honey right now to mix with lemon juice. That is on my list to get tomorrow.
Other uses of Vicks that I have come across include the treatment of:
* Paper cuts
* Warts
*Splinters
*Cold Sores
*nail fungus

* Smear on the bird
feeder pole to keep
squirrels away
(that one I just learned about)
The commander often gets plantar warts on his toes (too much information???) :)
His foot doctor recommended taking high doses of beta carotine for a month and wrapping it in duct tape.
What home remedies have you tried to relieve ailments?

Cheesy Hamburger Casserole

I posted a similar recipe here, but I think I like this one much better.
The cast and crew of this dish:
1/2 of a chopped onion
1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 (15oz) can tomato sauce
2 c uncooked macaroni
1 can cheddar cheese soup.

Cook macaroni per package instructions. Brown the ground meat and onions in a skillet. Pour off excess grease. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer 10 min.

Pour meat and macaroni in a casserole dish and mix well. Pour cheese soup over the top and bake at 400 x 20 min.

**I added a garlic clove and bell pepper to the hamburger meat.
Then I topped the casserole with shredded cheese. I think a can of tomatoes would be good too.

Razorback football with Coach Petrino

The Bobby Petrino show is held in a local restaurant every Wednesday night. It is open to the public with reservations.
Grandaddy went tonight for the review of the Arkansas vs. Florida game. Coach Petrino wasn't at liberty to discuss the officiating of the game, but I'm pretty sure Grandaddy LOVED it just the same.

I'm so glad we have Coach Petrino! The Commander and I might have to check this out next week. Must. Go. Hungry. It's all you can eat catfish. YUM!

Hand Standin' and Donkey Kickin'

Folks, we actually pay money for the preschooler to plop down on his hands and feet, kick his legs back in the air and yell, HEE HAW! HEE HAW!
Ms. Jamie has a gutted out, old school bus that she converted to a gym on wheels. She has a background in gymnastics and teaching so she travels to all the area preschools for lessons. I think it's a genius idea! What's even better is all the kids get to go at the beginning of the school year so they will go home and talk about how fun it is.
Here's the preschooler demonstrating "we are supposed to do this while Ms. Jamie counts"
(Yes, those are little Diego underoos peeking out above his pants). :)

(I might just change their names to truck and trailer. Where ever there is a big truck a little trailer is certainly close by...Ha!)
One day the Commander saw the tumble bus on the road and made the comment that it looked like it might not make it very long.
The next week..the preschooler reports that the tumble bus was "dripping" and would come on Friday instead of Monday. HA!
